Thomas Longley, MD

Tom has gone about his life in the non-traditional way and it has worked out well so far. He met the love of his life in high school and they were married shortly afterwards. They had their eldest daughter when they were quite young and then spent time going back to school to help support her. He completed his undergrad at the University of Illinois at Chicago with his major in Clinical Laboratory Science.  Tom was working full time on the night shift at a community hospital laboratory while he was completing his degree. After he finished he would work as the Evening/Night shift supervisor at that lab for about 5 years before going to medical school. He earned his MD and MPH from the University of Iowa. During that time Tom and his wife had their two youngest daughters. In Iowa between having a community garden plot, going to a local co-op, and obtaining his MPH, he became interested in nutrition and Integrative Medicine, two topics not really taught in traditional allopathic medical school. Tom also became interested in Health Economics and Health Policy.  He hopes to combine these interests as he heads to Santa Fe, NM, to begin his medical practice. Besides spending time with his wife and children, he enjoys cooking, hiking, running, tennis and playing guitar.


Tyler Voss, DO

Tyler is originally from northwest Wisconsin, but has been a Michigander for more than ten years now. He received a B.S. from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI, in Biotechnology. He was then a brain tumor researcher for three years before continuing graduate and medical school. Tyler completed an M.S. degree in Cell and Molecular Biology during medical school at Michigan State University. He spends his spare time with a doctor wife and two wonderful children, Sean and Jasper. Tyler tries to run trail half marathons, golf, read fiction, and play bass guitar and tenor saxophone when he gets a chance.


Amy Berke, MD

Amy completed her Bachelors of Science degree at University of Michigan and she received her Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University.

Carlos Garrido, MD

Carlos completed his Bachelor of Science at Biology Sacred Heart University, San Juan Puerto Rico. He went to medical school and received his Doctorate of Medicine from Saint John the Baptist Medical School.  Carlos served our country in the US Navy in the Nuclear Power Program for 6 years.  His professional interests include hospital medicine and ICU care.  His personal interests include, weight lifting, swimming, soccer, basketball, tabletop games, video games, movies, books and music.



Victoria Nichols, DO

Vicki took the scenic route to medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. While receiving a BS in Microbiology at the University of Minnesota (Go Gophers), she fell in love with Minneapolis, adopting it as her hometown. She spent one year as a food scientist on Team Brownie and Team Muffins at General Mills, followed by a year working at her church. Those two years helped solidify her passion for working with at risk youth, teen pregnancy prevention, immunization promotion, and global health. This sent her back to the University of Minnesota to study Maternal and Child Health/Epidemiology at the School of Public Health. This then landed her a job doing research in the schools around Flint while applying for medical school. She was awarded a scholarship through the National Health Service Corps at graduation and is hoping to work in Detroit after residency. Her dream job is working as the medical director of school-based health care centers, seeing patients at a federally qualified health center and spending several weeks doing medical mission trips in the Balkans and the Middle East.  In her spare time, Vicki teaches Sunday school to Kindergarteners, leads a women’s Bible Study, spends as much time, biking and hiking as possible, plays and watches baseball (Go Tigers) and football (Go Steelers), travels the world, and crochets with her cat while watching Star Trek and Arrested Development reruns.

Alisha Trent, MD
Alisha is originally from and received her medical school training in Central Arkansas.  She also trained in central Arkansas for her undergraduate education where she received double degrees in Music and Biology.  Alisha’s medical interests include women's health, nutrition, and fitness.  She enjoys the diversity that family medicine allows, and plans to incorporate OB care and deliveries into her future practice. Outside of medicine, she is a single mom to two boys, aged 13 and 9.


April Fischer, DO

April completed her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Texas at Dallas Richardson, TX, and completed her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from University of North Texas Health Science Center Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Ft. Worth, TX.

Adam Frimodig, DO

Adam received his Bachelors of Science from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, and he obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University, Downers Grove, IL.

Shikha Garg, DO

Shikha is originally from the Chicagoland area. She went to Loyola University of Chicago where she completed her Biology major with a minor in Bioethics. Shikha completed her osteopathic degree at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.  She enjoys living in Ann Arbor and is willing to try almost anything once. Professional interests include, urgent care, women's health and office procedures. Her personal Interests include, playing volleyball about 3-4x week. She enjoys outdoor dining, traveling, and going back to Chicago to spend time with her family.

Jacquelynn Hatch, DO

Jacquie is a native of Michigan, growing up just north of Detroit. She went to Michigan State University where she received her Bachelors of Science in Physiology. She then headed south to attend medical school at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, TN. After earning her degree, she worked in an oncology office for a short while before joining the St. Joseph Mercy Livingston residency. She has an interest in medical mission trips. Jacquie has travelled many times with her medical school to the Dominican Republic and Haiti. This is something that she envisions doing for the rest of her life, and looks forward to travelling the world. She also has a passion for sports medicine, and is hoping to do a fellowship following residency.  Outside of work, she enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking and playing with her dog. You can always count on her to join in watching a baseball game, some college football, or a hockey game. Go Green!

Jesse Heard, MD

Jesse received his Bachelors of Chemistry from University of Louisiana in Monroe, LA, and his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University- Grenada.

Payal Shah, MD

Payal completed her undergraduate training at University of Toronto in Toronto Canada, and went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine from Windsor University- Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Kevin Coalter, MD

Kevin was born and raised in a small farming village in West Michigan.  After graduating from Aquinas College, with a B.S. in biological science, he spent a short time as a bench scientist at the Van Andel Research Institute in Grand Rapids, MI.  From there he transitioned into medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, graduating in 2013.  His career focus is outpatient primary care medicine, and it is his goal to join a general family medicine practice somewhere along the northern shores of Lake Michigan upon completion of residency.   Kevin has a small family including his wife, Jodi and son, Jack.  Kevin enjoys the great out-of-doors and in his free time, he can be found fishing, hiking, camping, or canoeing with friends and family in the beautiful Michigan backcountry. 

Mark Langlois, MD

Mark grew up on the west coast of Michigan in a small town called Fruitport. Growing up, he spent most of his time playing football and pole vaulting. He went to Michigan State University and while he earned a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, he also pole-vaulted as a collegiate athlete. He earned his MD from American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, on the beautiful island of St. Maarten. The Brighton area became his home, while completing his clerkship training for medical school at Providence Hospital in Southfield, MI. He loves to go golfing, boating, and spending time with his family. He is proud to be a family medicine resident at the St. Joseph Mercy Health System because it is important to his pursuit of a career in rural family medicine.

Jami-Lynn Matthews, DO

Jami-Lynn was born and raised locally in a suburb of Metro Detroit. She received her bachelors of Science in Biochemistry from Lee University in Cleveland, TN. While she enjoyed the weather and did not miss the snow, but always knew she would come back home. She received her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine and became a Spartan. Dr. Matthews has a passion for family medicine because she has a passion for people. She feels it is a privilege to treat the entire family for an entire lifetime. She loves the variety of family medicine but her areas of special interest are pediatrics, women’s health, and geriatric medicine.

Kyleigh Naismith, DO

Kyleigh attended Albion College and obtained her Bachelor's degree in Biology. She completed medical school in Virginia at the Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and chose to spend residency in her home state of Michigan.


Angelo Savino, MD

Dr. Savino was born and raised in Barrington, Illinois. He graduated from Barrington High School where his sports interests included hockey and lacrosse. After graduating high school, he decided to head west for college at University of Denver. He obtained a B.A. in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry. His interests in college included skiing and snowboarding. After college, he took two years off to extend his education at Loyola University of Chicago. Dr. Savino attended American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine.


Rohan Shah, MD

Rohan was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. He received his undergraduate degree from UIC in Neuroscience, and then decided on going to Ross University for medical school. In the last 4 years, he has lived in Dominica, New York, Miami, Chicago, and Michigan. He is a very active individual, and loves getting involved in sports. He particularly loves playing and watching basketball.


Anas Souqiyyeh, MD

Anas received his Bachelors of Science in Biology from Northern Illinois University, IL. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine – St. Martin and did further clinical training in local Michigan hospitals. He was a research fellow after medical school graduation with the Cleveland Clinic until he joined St. Joseph family medicine residency in 2014 to acquire the training to practice medicine in rural Michigan.
