St. Joseph Mercy Livingston hosts Day of Caring Health Fair
Hospital to provide free skin cancer screenings, blood pressure screenings and more

HOWELL, Mich. – St. Joseph Mercy Livingston is participating in the 2013 Livingston County United Way Day of Caring by hosting a comprehensive health fair on Wednesday, August 21 from noon to 4 pm. All screenings are free and open to the public.

“Health fairs are one way of helping community members take charge of their health. We invite everyone to attend this free event,” says Dianne Yax, director for patient-care services, St. Joseph Mercy Livingston. “We are pleased to support the United Way Day of Caring for the fifth year with this health fair.”

The Day of Caring Health Fair will be held from noon – 4 p.m. at St. Joseph Mercy Livingston’s Community Rooms, 620 Byron Road, West Entrance.

The health fair includes:

· Skin cancer screening
· Blood pressure screening
· Hearing screening
· Body Mass Index (BMI) & body fat percentage readings
· American Heart Association My Life Check
· Prescription drug take back - Livingston County Sheriff’s Department will be collecting unused and expired medications for safe disposal
· Free produce from Gleaner’s
· Dental health education and resources
· Fall prevention
· Mature drivers course demo
· Chair massages
